Scroll the Quran

Terms of Service

Last updated 4 November 2026

About these terms

These terms apply to the Scroll the Quran website (scrollquran.com) and apps (the “Service”), provided by Dr. Souhayel Tayeb, Dubai, United Arab Emirates (“we”). By using the Service you accept these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

The Service

Scroll the Quran is a free, non-commercial project offered as a sadaqa jariya. It presents verses of the Quran with translations, recitations, tafsir, Quranic duas, prayer times and the Qibla direction. We may change, suspend or end any part of the Service at any time.

Quran text, translations and recitations

The Arabic text is the King Fahd Complex Uthmani script; the English translation is by Saheeh International and the French translation by Muhammad Hamidullah, obtained through Tanzil and the quran-json project under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 licence. Translations in other languages come from the Noble Qur’an Encyclopedia (QuranEnc), the King Fahd Complex and Tanzil, through the open fawazahmed0/quran-api collection, and remain the work of their named translators. The Warsh and Qalun texts are the King Fahd Complex editions, obtained through the quran-ws/quran-text project. Recitations come from the Islamic Network audio library and mp3quran.net, and tafsir (including al-Muyassar, al-Sa‘di, Ibn Kathir, al-Baghawi, al-Qurtubi and al-Tabari in Arabic) from the open tafsir_api dataset. The duas are taken from the Quran and from the hadith collections of al-Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud, al-Tirmidhi, al-Nasa’i and Ibn Majah (through the open fawazahmed0/hadith-api collection, with al-Albani’s gradings); their English and French meanings and transliterations are our own. Word-by-word meanings, word recitations and tajweed annotation come from the Quran Foundation (Quran.com) Content API and are used under its developer terms. The Adhan is recited by Sheikh Abdulrahman Al Hindi, the Adhan heard across Dubai; the recording is trimmed and normalised for the app, and all rights in it remain with its owners. The seerah timeline cites the Quran, al-Bukhari and Muslim, and the Sira of Ibn Hisham. These materials belong to their respective owners and remain subject to their own licences.

Translations and tafsir convey the meaning of the Quran as understood by their authors; they are not the Quran itself. For religious rulings, please consult qualified scholars. If you notice an error in any text, please tell us.

Prayer times, Qibla, calendar, weather and mosques

Prayer times and the Qibla direction are calculated from your location using established astronomical methods. Results depend on the calculation method, your location and your device’s sensors, and can differ from your local mosque’s timetable. Please check them against a trusted local source. Adhan alerts depend on your device settings and may not always sound.

Islamic calendar dates are calculated and can differ by a day from the dates announced in your country after the moon sighting. Weather comes from Open-Meteo and mosque locations from OpenStreetMap contributors; both are provided for convenience and may be incomplete or out of date.

Accounts

You may create an account with your email or, where offered, with Google or Apple. Keep access to your email and sign-in accounts secure. You can delete your account at any time from the profile screen. We may suspend accounts that misuse the Service.

Acceptable use

Please use the Service respectfully. You must not misuse it, interfere with its operation, try to access data that is not yours, use automated means to overload it, or share content from it in a way that alters the Quran text or misrepresents its meaning. When you share verse cards, please keep the source references.

Feedback

If you send suggestions, you allow us to use them to improve the Service without any obligation to you.

Photos you share

You may share only photos of mosques that you took yourself and that you have the right to share. Please avoid close-ups of people and anything private. By sending a photo, you allow us, free of charge and worldwide, to publish it in the Service with its place, the name you chose and the scrollquran.com tag, and to let people share it on social media and messaging apps. You keep your rights in the photo. We may decline or remove any photo, and we remove yours when you ask.
